No Hello ❌

No Hello ❌

Stop Sending 3 Messages When 1 Will Do: A Communication Tip

I recently noticed that most of my friends didn’t understand this concept at all, so let’s re-explain 😂

When you write to someone on WhatsApp, Slack, or any instant messaging service, many people do this:

  1. First message:
    “Hello, how are you??”
  2. Second message:
“Can I ask you a question about the business launch in Poland?”
  3. Third message:
“I am wondering, …” (and finally your actual question)

If this looks familiar, let me tell you: this behavior is a nightmare of inefficiency and should be avoided at all costs. At Stockly, it’s actually strictly forbidden and part of our communication principles (you’re trained on this during onboarding).

Why is it so bad?

  • The person on the other side is waiting for your next message.
  • You’re wasting their time by spreading your request across multiple messages.
  • They spend minutes waiting just to understand what you actually want.

It’s like calling someone on the phone and saying:
“Hey man, how are you?”
puts them on hold
“I have a question for you”
puts them on hold again

You get the idea.

Important note
This does not mean you shouldn’t be polite 😂🙏. You can absolutely keep it friendly, but here’s the key: combine your greeting and your request into a single message.

Instead of sending three separate messages, just write:

Hey, how are you?
I have a question about the business launch in Poland:
I am wondering, …

This approach:

  • Respects everyone’s time
  • Helps you structure your request clearly
  • Improves your communication karma ☮️🧘

One message. Polite. Clear. Efficient. Everyone wins.
